Our parent organization, the Arkansas Foreign Language Teachers Association (AFLTA) has requested several changes in all 5 of their foreign language districts:

· Instead of two state conferences, AFLTA will now offer a conference in the Spring

· The fall conference has been moved to the five AFLTA foreign language districts

· In order to compete at the state level, students first have to qualify at the district level

· AFLTA membership is required to participate in any/all district event(s).

Most districts didn’t offer professional development activities nor a local festival in the past.  SAFLA, which  has done both for many years, is proud to have served as the model for the new AFLTA policies.

 

Regarding professional development, instead of the 3 traditional SAFLA In-service workshop, we will now have 3 different events:

1. A summer workshop with a national presenter, organized through the South Central Service Co-op.

2. The traditional SAFLA Spring In-service Workshop.

 

In addition to this website with an address easy to remember and type, you can now also communicate with SAFLA officers through the user friendly e-mail addresses below and you can communicate with each other through the “safla” Yahoo! Group.

 

Dues for the fiscal year (July 1 to June 30) will have to be paid once, for that year, with your registration to the first event in which you will partake.  SAFLA dues are now $10 per year and AFLTA $20 per year.

 

You can become a member or renew your membership at any time sending the completed membership form, along with your payment to:
